Sheehan made a name for himself on the international stage in 2023 with his victory at Paris-Tours and made a small piece of cycling history as the first American to win the French autumn classic. This year, he also enjoyed success at the Circuit de Wallonie and on a stage of the 2026 Czech Tour.
“The move to Netcompany INEOS is a dream come true. It’s a team I’ve looked up to since I was a child. To now be part of such a successful and prestigious organisation is something very special,” said Sheehan in the official statement. At the same time, he emphasised that he felt he was still a long way from reaching his full potential and wanted to take the next step in his career with his new team.
The team management are also impressed by the new signing. Racing Director Geraint Thomas described Sheehan as “an exciting rider” who possesses both a fast start and great technical ability. He is seen primarily as a reinforcement for the classics team, but his versatility means he is expected to feature throughout the entire racing calendar.
With this signing, Netcompany INEOS is continuing to rebuild its squad and has secured the services of a rider whose strengths lie particularly in demanding one-day races.
