Gibt sich Jonas Vingegaard (r) noch nicht geschlagen: Tadej Pogacar (l).
Tadej Pogacar doesn't want to let it come down to the time trial on the penultimate stage in the battle for his third victory in the Tour de France.

The 23-year-old Slovenian therefore announced many attacks on race leader Jonas Vingegaard on the Pyrenean stages from Tuesday to Thursday. "I have to seize every opportunity and attack on every climb to gain some time every day. I hope that I won't have any regrets at the end," said Pogacar. The two-time Tour winner is 2:22 minutes behind last year's runner-up Vingegaard.

Pogacar doesn't want to wait for the time trial

Pogacar wants to make up this gap in the mountains. "I have to close the gap before the time trial. Jonas is really good. I'm not going to bet on the time trial and hope that I can make up 30 seconds or two minutes there," said the captain of the UAE teams.

After three days in the Pyrenees with two mountain finishes, the Tour will be decided on Saturday in the battle against the clock. From Lacapalle-Marival to Rocamadour is a distance of 40.7 kilometres. In the opening time trial in Copenhagen over 13.1 kilometres, Pogacar only eight seconds ahead of Vingegaard.

Pogacar would also be happy with second place in the end. "It's not the end of the world if I don't come to Paris in yellow. Second place is also good," said the exceptional talent.
