A total of 22 teams will set off on the 28.4 kilometre course at four-minute intervals. The Tudor Pro Cycling Team will start at 14:30, while the team of overall leader Tim Merlier, Soudal Quick-Step, will start last at 15:54. The order of the teams will be based on the team classification after stage 2 - the teams will start in reverse order (the last team will roll off the ramp first), with the team of the overall leader taking a special position and starting last.
Special rules apply to the scoring of the stage. The time of the first rider of each team to cross the finish line is taken into account for the team's stage result. In the overall classification, however, each rider is credited with the individual time he or she takes to reach the finish in the team time trial.
A special rule applies to the last kilometre of the race. In accordance with article 2.6.028 of the UCI regulations, riders who suffer a crash, puncture or mechanical failure after the Flamme Rouge - which marks the final kilometre - will be classified with the time of their teammates with whom they were riding at the time of the incident.
