The organisers of Paris-Nice have modified the route of Saturday's 7th stage due to the bad weather in the Alps.

The A.S.O. has announced a last-minute change to the route for stage 7 on Saturday. The reason for this is the unfavourable weather conditions in the Alpes-Maritimes region, particularly at higher altitudes.

To ensure the safety of the riders, it was decided in consultation with the city of Nice, the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur, the Prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes and representatives of the UCI, the teams and riders (A.I.G.C.P, C.P.A) to adapt the route. The stage will now have a total length of 109.3 kilometres instead of the originally planned 147.8 kilometres. The finish in Auron remains unchanged, but the safety conditions for the crossing of the Col de la Colmiane and the subsequent descent are not considered adequate.

New route without Côte de Belvédère and Col de La Colmiane

The modified route means that the riders will continue directly after 55.8 kilometres and skip the Côte de Belvédère and the Col de La Colmiane. Instead, the route leads through the Var Valley and then through the Tinée Valley. Shortly before Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, the riders will rejoin the originally planned route for the final 32.5 kilometres of the stage. The start was originally scheduled for 11.15am on Saturday. This will now take place at 12:20 pm. The finish is expected at around 15:00.
