Official confirmation: Felix Gall and Gregor Mühlberger to join Lidl-Trek from 2027

So now it’s official. The WorldTour team Lidl-Trek has officially announced the signing of the two Austrians. Felix Gall ends the current 2026 season with two Grand Tour podium finishes and thus underlines his development into a top general classification rider. The 28-year-old will ride for three years until the end of 2029, whilst Mühlberger, who is four years his senior, has been given a two-year contract until 2028.

Felix Gall: His journey to becoming a Grand Tour rider

As a teenager, Felix Gall won the Junior Road World Championships in Richmond in 2015. After five years with the teams now known as Team Picnic PostNL and Decathlon-CMA CGM, he reached his current level of performance. He made his breakthrough in the 2023 Tour de France. In the 2026 season, he finished second in the Giro d’Italia and third in the Vuelta a España.

"Lidl-Trek marks the start of a new chapter in my career as a professional cyclist. After some wonderful years and the successes that came with them, it is now time for the next logical step. Lidl-Trek’s high standards in all aspects of modern cycling are perfectly in line with my goal of continuing to develop as much as possible,” explains Felix Gall in the team’s official statement.

CEO Andy Schleck sees further potential: "Felix has really come into his own as a GC leader, and it has been exciting to watch him take another step forward every season. Since his breakthrough at the 2023 Tour de France, he has further developed his consistency, his confidence and his ability to perform at the highest level over three gruelling weeks. In 2026, Felix showed that he is among the very best and has established himself as a genuine Grand Tour podium contender. But we believe there is so much more to come.”

Mühlberger’s role as a noble helper

Gregor Mühlberger has more than ten years’ experience as a professional cyclist. The 32-year-old rode for Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe and the Movistar Team for five years before moving to Decathlon-CMA CGM in 2026 to ride alongside his friend Felix Gall. He won the general classification at the 2026 Tour of Austria, whilst at the Giro d’Italia he supported Felix Gall and finished 15th himself.

"A little dream is coming true. The chance to ride for Lidl-Trek is fantastic news, a major milestone and another valuable chapter in my journey through professional cycling, which now spans more than ten years. I’m thrilled and hope to make a significant contribution to the team in the years to come. What matters to me is supporting the team leaders at the very highest level whilst also having the chance to ride for my own results,” says Mühlberger.

Reinforcements for the mountain stages

Andy Schleck highlights Mühlberger’s qualities: “Gregor will bring a wealth of experience to the team over the next two years, but just as important are the qualities that every team values: loyalty, commitment and the willingness to give his all for those around him. He is the sort of team-mate who will stand up for his leader without hesitation, whilst at the same time possessing the ability to capitalise on his own opportunities. As we saw at this year’s Tour of Austria, Gregor is more than capable of delivering an outstanding result himself when the moment arises.”

The two riders are not only team-mates but also close friends. Their strengths lie in the mountain stages of Grand Tours, which is in keeping with their Austrian roots. The move to Lidl-Trek comes following a successful 2026 season, in which Felix Gall and Gregor Mühlberger proved their capabilities.
