The Sauerland cycling team REMBE | rad-net registers a women's Continental team with the UCI. The team pursues the same promotion of young talent as the existing men's team and is a response to the lack of places for German talent in international teams. The Sauerland cycling team REMBE | rad-net is expanding its commitment and will start with a women's team in 2025. The team has already registered with the UCI as a Continental team, as the team announced. The decision is a response to the current situation in women's cycling, where international teams have disbanded and there are too few places for young German talent.

"We will pursue the same philosophy with the women's team as with the men's team," explained Managing Director Ulrich Müller. The promotion of young German talent and female track cyclists is at the centre of the team strategy. Young female athletes are to be given a platform to make the leap to the top international level. This focus is in line with the proven concept of the men's team, which has already successfully developed German talent.

Reaction to market gap in women's cycling

The team was founded against the backdrop of structural problems in international women's cycling. Several teams have disbanded, leaving female riders without an optimal environment for further development. This includes the German WorldTour team Ceratizit, which officially announced its dissolution back in August. Team manager Jörg Scherf sees this as an opportunity: "It would be a shame to lose so many good talents and, with the help of some of our partners, we have found a solution as to how we can get a women's team up and running."

REMBE Managing Director Stefan Penno emphasises the strategic importance of the move for German cycling. The company would also like to contribute to the further development of women's cycling in the future and is sending a clear signal in favour of promoting young female talent. The objective is ambitious: victories at the highest international level should be possible again.

Team structure and sponsoring background

The women's team is financed jointly with long-standing partners of the existing men's team. This continuity should create a stable basis for the long-term development of the female riders. The team name and composition of the team will be officially announced in the coming days. Registration with the UCI as a Continental team will enable participation in national and international races in the corresponding category.
