It is the biggest transfer in professional cycling this year. Thomas Pidcock is moving from former industry leader Ineos Grenadiers to second-division team Q36.5 Pro Cycling. The Swiss racing team officially announced the signing of the 25-year-old last Friday. Just two days earlier, Pidcock's previous employer Ineos Grenadiers early cancellation of the contract, which originally ran until 2027, at the end of the season.

Thomas Pidcock: One rider, two bike brands

Rumours about a possible switch of the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team's bike supplier from Scott to Pinarello have not been confirmed. "We are delighted that Tom Pidcock is joining the team and will be riding with Scott road bikes and Syncros components from 2025," said Scott Sports co-CEO Pascal Ducrot in a press release last Friday. For 2025, the riders of Q36.5 will have access to the Scott Foil RC, Plasma RC TT and the brand new Addict RC available.

However, as Pidcock not only rides on the road, but also competes at the highest level in cyclocross and mountain bike disciplines, the question arose as to which bike brand the exceptional rider would ride. The answer was given on Monday: Pinarello, Pidcock's previous bike sponsor for road and off-road, announced that the all-rounder will be riding the Italian brand's bikes in off-road competitions for the next three years. As a result, the Pinarello Crossista F will be available to him for cyclocross competitions and the Pinarello Crossista F for MTB races. With this signing, the Swiss team has pulled off a huge coup, which could now also open doors in terms of wildcards for the really big races. As a road pro, the Briton won the 2021 Arrow of Brabant, a stage at the 2022 Tour de France, a section of the 2023 Tour of the Algarve, Strade Bianche 2023 and the 2024 Amstel Gold Race.

Pidcock is not only successful on the road. He is one of the few cross-discipline all-rounders like Mathieu van der Poel or Wout van Aert, which he has proven with two gold medals in mountain biking at the 2021 and 2024 Olympic Games, the 2023 World Championship title in cross country (XCO) and the 2022 World Championship title in cyclocross.
