Alongside the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana, the Giro d'Italia is one of the three most important national tours in professional cycling. This traditional tour through Italy takes place over a period of three weeks in May. After the spring classics, the Giro is the first major highlight among the stage races. The route is extremely varied: from the mountain stages in the Alps in the north to the hot sections in the south.
In 2024, the riders will have to complete 21 stages on the route from Venaria Reale near Turin to Rome. There are two time trials, stages for sprinters, for breakaways, but also several very difficult sections in the high mountains. In our live blog, we will be following the finals of the 21 stages of the Giro d'Italia 2024 here in live ticker format. You can also find all the important news about the first Grand Tour of the year here.
22 teams will start the Tour of Italy at the beginning of May. Each team will nominate eight riders. That makes a total of 176 professional cyclists who will initially make up the peloton of the Giro d'Italia 2024. We have already compiled the start list for the Giro d'Italia 2024. And we will of course report in our live ticker if any riders have to abandon the race in the meantime.

In addition to the exciting competitions, the Giro also offers the opportunity to discover Italy's diverse landscape. From southern Italy to the Alps in the north, there are numerous breathtaking photo opportunities, which we will show here in the live ticker.
