After the UCI announced earlier this year that MyWoosh from Abu Dhabi will be the new organiser of the Esports World Championships over the next three years, replacing the previous organiser Zwift, an approximate date for the 2024 event has now been set. MyWoosh is a digital cycling app that was founded in 2019 and is currently free of charge.
In all likelihood, the fourth edition of the Esports World Cup will take place next October. For the first time, all participants who have qualified for the final will compete on site. The organiser will ensure that the 20 best male and female athletes from the qualifying rounds, in which the finalists are determined, travel to Abu Dhabi.
Information on the exact date, the venue and the event itself will be announced at the beginning of next year. Nothing is yet known about the qualification routes and the format either.
MyWoosh will organise and host the next three editions (2024 - 2026) of the Esports World Championship as an exclusive platform. The new organiser should contribute to the further development of the event. The platform will offer athletes and fans an intense experience, combining the spirit of cycling with the excitement of esports.
In addition to the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships, Abu Dhabi will organise and host other cycling events in the coming years. These include the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships next year, the UCI Road World Championships in 2028, the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships and the UCI Track World Championships in 2029.
