The French team's haul from the 2024 season is very poor with just five victories - in 2023 it was 14. Cofidis had to wait until May before the first cheers came from Benjamin Thomas on stage 5 of the Giro d'Italia, which was also the most prestigious victory for the traditional team in 2024.
Given the team's meagre record, this statistic is almost superfluous. But there is one rider, Milan Fretin, who took two victories and thus tops the list. The 23-year-old Belgian won the first stage of the Four Days of Dunkirk and the second stage of the Tour Poitou.
Thomas Champion was the perennial favourite of Cofidis 2024 with a total of 89 race days. The 25-year-old Frenchman had his first outing on 21 January at the Ruta de la Ceramica in Spain, and his season only ended after the Tour of Guangxi in China in October. In between were two Grand Tours, including the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana. However, Champion has only one more race day than his team-mate Guillaume Martin, who has ridden a total of 14378,444 kilometres more in the saddle than Champion, followed by Simon Geschke (13476).
Even after the end of Simon Geschke's career, Cofidis will remain a team that German cycling fans will be focussing on. After all, the French team has signed one of Germany's top riders in Emanuel Buchmann. The 2019 Tour de France fourth-placed rider is one of a total of twelve new additions to the team and the most notable newcomer alongside Belgian Dylan Teuns, Spaniard Alex Aranburu and Brit Simon Carr.
In the coming season, Cofidis will have to assert itself in the World Tour relegation battle. Although the team is currently just above the line with 18233 points (2359 points ahead of 19th-placed Arkea-B&B Hotels), it will have to stretch itself to stay in the class. Especially as Axel Zingle and Guillaume Martin, two riders who scored around a third of the UCI points in 2024, are no longer part of the team.
