Mischa Bredewold (Team SD Worx - Protime) celebrates a home win in the women's Amstel Gold Race 2025. The Dutch rider broke away from a large breakaway group together with four other riders 18 kilometres before the finish on the Geulhemmerberg, which she then left behind on the final Cauberg. On the home straight, the 24-year-old defended her lead against her rivals and celebrated her first victory in a classic at World Tour level in her home country. Just a few seconds behind her, Ellen van Dijk (Lidl-Trek) secured second place, with Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck) in third. Juliette Labous (FDJ-SUEZ) and Silvia Persico (UAE Team ADQ) were also in the escape group, but narrowly missed out on the podium in the end.
After dominating the classics in Flanders at will in March and April, Team SD Worx - Protime of winner Mischa Bredewold was thwarted at Paris-Roubaix 2025. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot from Team Visma | Lease a Bike secured victory there. The Belgian team was unimpressed at the Amstel Gold Race 2025 and responded with another success. Team SD Worx - Protime thus won the fifth classic at World Tour level in 2025 in the ninth race.

The Amstel Gold Race 2025 Ladies Edition started in Maastricht and was due to finish in Berg en Terblijt after 158 kilometres. It took over 10 kilometres until Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Fenix-Deceuninck) attacked. She was joined shortly afterwards by eight other riders who formed the breakaway group of the day. Gladys Verhulst-Wild (AG Insurance - Soudal Team) and Solbjørk Minke Anderson (Uno-X Mobility) were among them. However, the group was not to last too long. The group was dropped about 80 kilometres before the finish.
Meanwhile, the peloton picked up the pace. The first riders dropped out of the peloton and more and more riders began to have problems with the course of the race. With 55 kilometres to go, riders managed to break away again despite the high speeds. A large breakaway group formed with over 20 riders. Among them were top riders such as Lorena Wiebes, Mischa Bredewold (both Team SD Worx - Protime), Juliette Labous (FDJ-SUEZ), Ellen van Dijk (Lidl - Trek), Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck) and Alison Jackson (EF Education-Oatly). The top favourites around Demi Vollering, Lotte Kopecky, Elisa Longo Borghini, Marianne Vos and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot remained in the peloton.
The leading group worked well together and was able to pull out a lead of over a minute and a half ahead of the peloton. On the Geulhemmerberg 18 kilometres before the finish, Labous, Pieterse and Persico broke away first, with van Dijk and Bredewold joining the trio a little later. The group of five quickly built up a clear lead over their pursuers, and the peloton didn't really get any closer to the front either. It became increasingly clear that the winner of the Amstel Gold Race 2025 would come from the group of five at the front.
With 5.2 kilometres to go, Ellen van Dijk launched an attack and tried to break away before the final Cauberg. The only rider who was able to stay on her wheel was Mischa Bredewold. The duo entered the Cauberg together, where Bredewold was able to open up a gap. Although a chasing group of van Dijk, Labous and Pieterse formed behind her, they always had the leader in sight. In the end, however, they were unable to join forces. Bredewold defended her lead fiercely and managed to win the small gap across the finish line. She won ahead of van Dijk and Pieterse.
