Gotthard Pass: First European Mountain Championships on the Tremola Pass road

Gotthard Pass - UEC European Mountain Championships

The Championnats d'Europe des Grimpeurs, which were already planned for 2022, will take place on 30 July at the Gotthard Pass in Switzerland. The titles will be contested in mass start races for the male and female elite, U23, junior and masters classes.

The stage is set by the Tremola road to the St. Gotthard Pass, Switzerland's longest road construction monument and legendary not least because of the sections paved with granite stones. The ascent from Airolo to the top of the pass through the Val Tremola covers around 990 metres in altitude over 14 kilometres. Both the professionals in the Tour de Suisse and the amateur athletes in the Alpenbrevet have had to conquer the pass road many times.
