Markus Storck, founder and head of the bicycle brand of the same name, turns 60 this year. To mark the occasion, he has created a special edition of his favourite models from the Storck portfolio.

Topics in this article

The range is headed by the exclusive Aerfast.5 MS 60th Edition, which, like all the models in the edition, features an emblem showing the number of the bike and a dragon's head, one of Markus Storck's tattoos, in addition to an elegant paint finish in silver tones.

Hand-signed Campagnolo Super Record S

A special highlight: The Italian luxury forge Campagnolo has developed a signature and numbered Super Record S 2x12 has been launched. Campa also includes a specially designed aluminium drinking bottle based on a historical model and a jersey matching the set in the so-called Collectors Box. The package even includes a special Storck edition of the legendary Campagnolo corkscrew. The Collectors Box with the Campa-equipped Aerfast.5 and bike case costs 16,064 euros, other models from the 60th Edition with Shimano or SRAM equipment are available from 13,064 euros. In addition to the Aerfast, Storck has also created a 60th Edition for the Aernario.3, Grix.2 and Grix models.

Markus Storck is a designer, maker and passionate cyclist

Markus Storck is one of the most influential personalities on the German and international cycling scene. As a designer, doer, passionate cyclist and entrepreneur, he has given many important impulses to road bike development; more than 100 Design awards for its bikes prove that Storck has repeatedly created outstanding products - a more than respectable record for a medium-sized German company in the global bicycle business.

Stores and showrooms around the world

Storck has been operating as a mail-order company for several years, but still maintains a number of stores and showrooms, eight of which are in Germany and six around the world. The brand from Frankfurt is represented in Tianjin (China), Cape Town (South Africa), the Philippines (Manila), Malaysia (Selangor), the USA (Concord) and Montevideo (Uruguay).

New brands for the German market

Born in Frankfurt, Storck, who was denied a career as a professional cyclist for health reasons, developed his company from the nucleus of his parents' bicycle business. As early as the end of the 1970s, Storck commissioned the innovative bike manufacturer Technobull to produce racing bikes to his specifications; in the early 1980s, Storck brought the US bike brands Cannondale, Trek and later Klein onto the German market as an importer.

Characteristic: low weight, driving stability, elegant design

After entering the components and complete bike business with the Bike-tech and 2-Danger brands he founded, the comprehensive change in strategy took place in 1995: since then, the Storck brand has enriched the market; the premiere models Scenario and Scenario Pro already showed the product philosophy pursued by the ambitious amateur cyclist: low weight, high riding stability and elegant design characterise Storck bikes to this day, both on the road and off-road. In 1997, the brand won the first of over a hundred design prizes at the Red Dot Award with the Adrenalin full-suspension mountain bike.

Since 2001, the brand has been recognisable by its catchy logo; the emblem based on the yin-yang symbol with the integrated Storck-S is also a reference to Markus Storck's enthusiasm for Asian culture, which he has come to know and appreciate on his many travels.

As a student of German and political science, the flawless amateur sportsman once decided to try his luck as a journalist. His passion for racing bikes led him straight to the TOUR editorial team as an intern, which has since become an affair of the heart that has lasted more than 30 years, 16 of them as editor-in-chief. As a - in his own words - "generalist in the cycling niche", he is interested in all topics relating to road bikes (and gravel bikes) and is still particularly enthusiastic about racing today. Highlights of his own career as a racing cyclist include taking part in the TOUR-Transalp, the odd everyman race and regular Alpine tours with friends.
