Speedmax CRF TT MY 21: What's new?

Canyon has completely redeveloped the time trial classic, partly in collaboration with the aero pros from Swiss Side. The frame shape differs due to the UCI regulations of of the triathlon version presented in November 2020 in particular the areas on the headset and bottom bracket are designed differently. In addition, the UCI-compliant Speedmax version completely dispenses with the numerous catering and storage options of the triathlon edition.

Compared to the previous model, Canyon promises a power saving of 2.7 watts - despite the switch to disc brakes. The high-quality components should also contribute to the improvement. The SRAM Red eTap AXS single-speed drivetrain should not only save weight, but also bring aero advantages. However, there is the option of fitting a front derailleur, which the professional teams with Shimano sponsorship will certainly do at the Giro.

The Speedmax CFR TT Disc comes with an integrated Red AXS power meter with Quarq power measurement technology as standard. Canyon also relies on maximum aerodynamics from Zipp for wheels and tyres: the Super 9 disc, the 808 Firecrest front wheel and the ergonomic Zipp Vuka Shift Extensions.

For those in love with detail: According to Canyon, the OSPW derailleur pulley system from Ceramicspeed reduces friction by 40 to 60 per cent and thus saves at least 1.6 to 2.4 watts. For the tyres, the Koblenz-based mail order company relies on Continental Grand Prix 5000. 25 mm wide tyres are fitted at the front and 28 mm at the rear, tubeless of course.

A drop of bitterness for the "ordinary amateur rider": The new Speedmax is only available in the top-of-the-range version for 9,999 euros!
