Inexpensive, functional, suitable for the mountains: Shimano's new 105 Di2 is predestined for marathon racing bikes. TOUR has tested nine current models. Here: The Storck Fascenario.3 Comp.

Storck Fascenario.3 Comp - Light sports gun

The Fascenario.3, which Storck sent into the test as a marathon racing bike, is the sporty pole in our comparison, and not just visually. The sleekly designed frameset requires a well-trained back, at least on longer tours, as it offers a decidedly stretched riding position, which is exacerbated by the forward-sloping carbon handlebars.

The build shown is also by far the lightest bike in the test - an impressive 1.3 kilograms lie between the Storck and the five heaviest road bikes, which all weigh 8.8 kilos in curious unison. The in-house Zeitjaeger Platinum wheels with carbon spokes, which are unrivalled in their lightness and also cut a fine figure aerodynamically, play a significant part in this (see wheel test in TOUR 4/2023). The maximum 28 millimetre wide tyres, which fit through the frame and fork, underline the road-oriented and sporty focus of the model, with narrow 25 millimetre tyres fitted as standard.

The bike rides correspondingly firm and direct; with many other manufacturers, the Fascenario would be a flawless competition racer. The actually quite well-sprung seat post can only develop its effect to a limited extent due to the front-heavy weight distribution. In contrast to many other road bikes in the test, the Storck is unsuitable for excursions on unpaved terrain.

Considering that the wheelset alone costs almost € 2000, the Fascenario.3 is a bargain, even though it is one of the more expensive bikes with the 105 Di2. Cheaper wheels are also available, starting with the DT Swiss P1800 with aluminium rims, with which the bike costs a fair € 3199.
