In 2025, the TOUR editorial team tested more than 100 road and gravel bikes in the saddle, measured and tested them in the TOUR lab, and documented the state of the art and current trends. In the big review: Best of test - the best bikes of 2025.
The year 2025 began with a bang. The best professional racers in the world gathered for an exclusive rendezvous in the TOUR laboratory. Rarely has so much technical elegance and so much material value been concentrated in our rooms at the same time: we extracted the most potent athletes from 13 bikes and determined who had the front tyre. Dream bikes for a total of more than 150,000 euros - what could be better than that, you might think.
Best of test: Surprises and newcomers
But looking back, the year still held a few surprises that we remember at least as fondly. The aero racer Y1Rs from Colnago, for example, on which Tadej Pogačar later rode to Tour de France victory. Or the Scott Addict RC - the lightest competition racing bike we have ever had the honour of riding. Or gravel bikes that perform exceptionally well off-road.
Close battle for the top spot in the world
Anyone who is allowed to experience so many bikes in all categories and price ranges with their own senses gets a good feeling for which brands belong to the circle of the most innovative. For us, these are Specialized and Canyon, for example, who may not have shaken up the market so much with new products, but have proven that their models are technically far ahead. Scott is re-establishing itself at the top of the world with the Addict RC and Foil RC competition models. Cannondale is setting trends with new endurance and gravel platforms that point the way ahead. And Cube proves that good technology does not always have to be expensive; the German manufacturer impresses in many categories with the best price-performance ratio.
