This year's Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour will take place from 25 to 30 June. The date of the fourth stage is 28 June. The start and finish of the stage are in the medieval imperial city of Mühlhausen, where the tour ended last year. Lotte Kopecky won the stage and thus also secured the overall classification.
Now the tour is making another stop in Mühlhausen. Vera Hohlfeld, Director of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour, is quoted in a press release from the organisers:
We felt very welcome in Mühlhausen in 2023 and sensed a great deal of enthusiasm in the town and among the people. That made the talks for a return in 2024 very easy.
Mühlhausen is also delighted that the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour will be making another stop in the city. Johannes Bruns, Lord Mayor of Mühlhausen, says: "In 2023, we experienced a great finale of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour in Mühlhausen. We are delighted that our [... city] will once again be the venue for the 36th edition of this event, which is so important for international women's cycling."
But now to the stage. In 2023, the final stage, i.e. the stage that ended in Mühlhausen, was around 126 kilometres long and involved 1400 metres of climbing. Not much is yet known about the 2024 route. Race director Marian Koppe, who is putting together the route, promises that the course will be challenging. "Due to the profile, a lot is possible - especially for riders who are good climbers. I'm also expecting movement in the overall classification," says Koppe.
