The premier league team will compete as Intermarche-Wanty in 2024. Supermarket chain Intermarche extends its commitment as title partner. No details were given about the exact duration of the sponsorship.
Intermarche has been on board with manager Jean-Francois Bourlart's team since the end of 2020. Since then, the team has racked up 53 victories. Including six stages at Grand Tours and with Gent-Wevelgem through Biniam Girmay 2022 a prestigious classic. The team finished the 2023 season in 14th place in the UCI World Ranking List from.
The team's co-sponsor Wanty, a construction, road building and demolition company, has been part of the name since 2013 and will also be at the forefront of the Wanty-ReUz-Technord junior team in future. Three new riders from the company's own junior structure will join the pros for the 2024 season: Francesco Busatto, Roel van Sintmaartensdijk and Alexy Faure Prost.
However, the previous sponsor Circus no longer bears the name. The reason for the withdrawal could be the ban on advertising for gambling providers in Belgium. Advertising for gambling has been banned there with restrictions since 1 July. Professional sports teams are still allowed to advertise on their jerseys until the end of 2027, but the space and size of the logos will be severely restricted from 1 January 2025.
It is not known how the new sponsor constellation will affect Intermarche-Wanty's budget. Most recently, the Belgian team's budget is said to have been around 10 million euros. The team led by Georg Zimmermann, who has been a member of the Belgian squad since 2021, was almost at the end of its tether of the Tour de France teams' budgets.
