The Leeze PRO series is made for bike racing. Aero-optimised carbon rims, a newly developed Leeze PRO hub and SAPIM CX carbon spokes are designed to combine high stiffness, low weight and race-ready handling. Depending on the version, the wheels are made for the road or for wide tyres in the all-road and gravel sector.

Topics in this article

Leeze is a wheel specialist from the Münsterland region, which recently also launched a Own gravel bike has presented. The new PRO wheels The Leeze D2R Development is a digital aero development to optimise aerodynamics and riding stability at racing speeds. The focus is on 60 mm aero rims in various widths so that racers can set up the wheels to match the tyre width.

Three rim widths for road and gravel bikes

  • 23 mm (hooked): Road setup, aerodynamically optimised for 30 mm tyres
  • 25 mm (hookless): Allroad & fast gravel, for tyres from 32 mm until approx. 45 mm
  • 28 mm (hookless): Gravel/Offroad, for tyres over 45 mm

This means that Leeze covers both classic aero setups for road racing and gravel race configurations with wider tyres.

Centrepiece and connection

The centrepiece is the Leeze PRO hub, which is specially adapted to the SAPIM CX carbon spokes. The oval spoke holes are designed to reduce torsional loads. Leeze uses a pawl system for the freehub, which is described as easy to maintain. In addition, the freehub is compatible with Leeze BASIC hubs, which can make spare parts handling easier.

Leeze uses 18 SAPIM CX carbon spokes per wheel. According to the manufacturer, the spokes are significantly stiffer and noticeably lighter than steel spokes. For racers, this means in practice: crisper acceleration, more precise steering feel and a very direct setup - depending on the choice of tyres, both on asphalt and on gravel.
