The wheel manufacturer Leeze from Havixbeck presents its first complete bike. The Bomberg GX is aimed at beginners in the gravel bike segment and costs 1699 euros (>> available here). The name refers to the Baumberge mountains in Münsterland, where the bike was developed. According to the manufacturer, the Bomberg GX combines the company's experience in wheel construction with a well thought-out frame concept. The design is aimed at a wide range of applications from sporty riding to bikepacking.
Leeze Bomberg GX: Frame and geometry
The Bomberg GX uses an aluminium frame with no visible weld seams. This manufacturing technique ensures a clean look. The Leeze GX carbon fork combines direct steering behaviour with comfort on longer rides. The geometry is intended to combine agility for sporty riding with comfort for multi-day tours; according to the geometry table, it seems to be in the golden mean between stretched and upright. It is noticeable that the four available sizes are relatively large.
22 mounting points on the frame offer extensive mounting options for luggage and accessories. Mudguards, pannier racks and frame bags can be mounted flexibly. The tyre clearance is up to 45 millimetres, which allows the use of voluminous tyres for difficult terrain. Wider tyres can further improve comfort and traction on loose surfaces. 40 millimetre wide tyres are fitted as standard.
Gearstick and brakes
The Shimano GRX 400 2x10 groupset offers 20 gears for different types of terrain. This may not sound like state-of-the-art technology in the twelve-speed age, but the double chainring at the front enables both steep climbs and fast descents. The mechanical drivetrain simplifies maintenance and repairs on the road. The GRX 400 is positioned as the entry-level groupset in Shimano's gravel range and offers reliable performance, while the gear ratio covers a wide range.
Hydraulic disc brakes ensure controlled deceleration in all weather conditions, even in wet and dirty conditions. Fully internally routed cables create a tidy appearance and do not get in the way when attaching luggage.
Wheels and tyres of the Leeze Bomberg GX
The standard Leeze AC 26 COMP GX wheels have an inner rim width of 25 millimetres. This width optimises the tyre shape for 40 to 45 millimetre wide gravel tyres. Their robust construction ensures reliability on rough surfaces. Leeze builds the wheels to its own quality standards and can therefore optimise the set-up for the frame. The spokes are precisely tensioned and centred for long-lasting performance.
40 millimetre Continental Terra Trail tyres complete the wheel setup. The tyres offer a compromise between rolling resistance on asphalt and traction off-road. The tread pattern is suitable for mixed surfaces from gravel to light trails. Continental Terra Trail tyres are considered versatile all-rounders in the gravel segment.
In-house components and tuning
The frame, stem, handlebars and wheels are all made by Leeze. This integration is unusual in the entry-level segment and enables all components to be optimally harmonised. Most manufacturers combine third-party components from different suppliers. The handlebar width varies depending on the frame size for an optimum fit, but tends to be wide.
Every Bomberg GX is assembled by hand in the Leeze Bike Store in Havixbeck. The in-house mechanics adjust the gears, brakes and wheels individually. This personalised service sets Leeze apart from large-scale manufacturers with factory assembly. The final tuning is carried out according to the specific requirements of each bike. Quality control and final assembly take place under the direct supervision of the developers.

The Leeze Bomberg GX costs 1699 euros and is available in three colour variants. Forest Green and Cobble Grey offer a subtle look, while Crazy Flamingo has a striking design. The Bomberg GX is the first complete bike from Leeze that can be ordered directly from the online shop. Previously, the company only sold wheels and components via direct sales. The online availability simplifies the purchasing process for customers outside the Münsterland region.
The price positions the Bomberg GX in the upper entry-level segment between discounter bikes and premium models. For 1699 euros, buyers receive a well thought-out selection of components with the manufacturer's own developments.
