The traditional company was no longer represented on the big cycling stage in 2024 because the AG2R La Mondiale team changed its main supplier and was also equipped with parts from Shimano as a result. With Cofidis, however, the Italians have now been able to win over another French World Tour team for a partnership. The team led by new signing Emanuel Buchmann will be supplied with components from Vicenza up to and including 2028.
One reason for Campagnolo's withdrawal from the World Tour was undoubtedly the fact that the new Super Record WRL did not offer a power measurement option for a long time. It was not until a year after the launch of the exclusive drivetrain, the most expensive drive technology in the world with a list price of 5200 euros, that the northern Italians submitted an Crank-based power meter to.
The top technology from Vicenza will of course be used on Buchmann & Co's equipment. In addition to the Super Record's radio-based rear derailleur, the Cofidis pros will apparently be fitted with customised chainrings. Accordingly, the professional 54/39 gearing is bolted to the Look competition machines, the 795 Blade RS. The largest gradation is 50/34 teeth as standard.
As the twelve-speed cassette, available in 10-25, 10-27 and 10-29 tooth versions, is only compatible with Campagnolo's N3W freewheel, Cofidis will also be racing with Campagnolo wheels. The Bora Ultra WTO are optimised for a tyre width of 28 millimetres. Depending on the profile, the team can choose between two rim heights (45 and 60 millimetres). The elegant wheelset is also characterised by the typical spoking, a carbon hub body and ceramic bearings. The Bora Ultra WTO TT disc wheel will be used on the Look 796 Monoblade RS, the time trial machine at Cofidis.
The Campa components will be seen racing for the first time at the Tour Down Under in Australia. The stage race celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2025 and starts on 21 January in Prospect. A total of around 820 kilometres await the pros. The finish line is in Adelaide on 26 January.
