The traditional Italian company Colnago is one of the last major racing bike brands to venture into the new gravel bike category. The Colnago G3X is intended to complement the product portfolio in the off-road sector, which until now has only included the Prestige cyclocross bike. One of the biggest differences compared to the cyclocross bike is the different frame geometry, which is intended to guarantee smoother running, stability and a more upright riding position.
The fork allows tyres up to 42 millimetres wide, which is particularly relevant when touring in deeper terrain. The seatpost clamping system with individually adjustable tightening torque is also designed for greater comfort. A protective cover made of robust rubber is designed to protect the right-hand chainstay from damage.
The new Colnago gravel bike is only suitable for longer bikepacking adventures to a limited extent: there are eyelets for a total of four bottle cages, one of which is on the removable underride guard of the bottom bracket shell. However, there are no special mounting options for luggage or eyelets for mudguards.
The Colnago G3X is available in two colour variants, black and green, at a price of 4,499 euros. Further information can be found on the Manufacturer page.
