After the triumph of the gravel bike, hardly anyone talks about them any more: cyclocross or cross-country bikes. Only a few manufacturers maintain a fleet. Canyon as sponsor of the Dutch world champion Mathieu van der Poel is one of them - and is now presenting a new model just a few days before the World Cup opener in Waterloo/USA (15 October).
According to the Koblenz-based company, the Inflite CFR is based on the platform that van der Poel rode last winter on his way to his fifth world title. For the first time, the cables are fully integrated into the cockpit and the revised fork familiar from the Aeroad and Ultimate. The height of the handlebar/stem unit can be adjusted by 15 millimetres without having to change the cables. The cockpit can also be adjusted to three different widths.
A bottom bracket from Ceramicspeed and high-quality components for the drive and wheels round off the exclusive CX bike. Canyon did not initially provide any information on weights or seating position. The previous top model (CF SLX 9 MVDP) weighed 7.9 kilograms and put the rider in a racing position with an STR ratio of 1.46.
Canyon offers the Inflite in two high-end versions for 7499 euros each. The CFR Di2 Team is given the colour scheme of van der Poel's racing machine. Two CF SLX and one CF SL version are also available. The models, priced between 3999 and 5499 euros, are based on a heavier frame set, among other things, and the cables on the cockpit are routed externally as on the predecessor. All versions have electronic shifting and come with a power meter crank.
