Anyone who thought that the well-known software solutions for indoor training already offered everything that cycling has to offer should take a closer look at Virtu Pro:
The software for use with smart roller trainers is based on the graphics of the "Cycling Manager" game and, unlike most of its competitors, focuses solely on racing action. The most important professional races, from one-day spring classics to three-week tours, are modelled on a scale of 1:5 in the e-cycling software. Depending on your personal FTP (you can follow a corresponding test protocol in the software), you can assign yourself to an appropriate performance class, which then determines the difficulty of the race.
Before the virtual starting gun sounds, you select a team and the corresponding drivers from the squad. It quickly becomes clear how diverse Virtu Pro is: the racing action changes depending on the abilities of the avatars. On flat stages, the sprinter teams set the pace and then noticeably increase it towards the end, while on mountain stages, the lightweights attack on the climbs. The ride feels fluid, the resistance adjusts smoothly. Only the speed increases on hilltops are often confusing and surprise even experienced racers. Virtu Pro still needs to be readjusted here. Extremely steep climbs also take some getting used to on the roller, as the cadence quickly drops below 60 rpm even in the lowest gear. Nevertheless, the software offers the current Best virtual racing experience in terms of realism.
The long-announced multiplayer mode was opened in December 2021, at least for individual beta testers. It promises the perfect terrain for ambitious club teams and clubs that enjoy competition. As of December 2021, it is "only" possible to ride with your own team against the virtual pros, but Virtu Pro has announced that different club teams will be able to compete against each other in the future - on the tracks of the WorldTour pros. A tantalising feature that Zwift's club world announced for 2022 could put the company under pressure to move.
As mentioned at the beginning, the indoor training software is designed purely for testing your strength in a race and is therefore not suitable for reeling off a training plan. However, you can use Virtu Pro to complete your weekly HIIT session in an appealing atmosphere. In addition to the realistic behaviour of the avatars, the fans at the side of the track, the scoring sheets and the finish line with camera crane and grandstands also help to give the game a very realistic feel.
The company has also announced its own app for the future, with which you can keep track of your driving and racing data and manage your subscription.
