The virtual cycling platform MyWhoosh released its latest update to version 5.3 on 10 September 2025. With this update, the service is expanding its offering with several new functions designed to make indoor training more varied. The focus is on the new arcade mode with a zombie escape game, junior accounts for young riders and a new virtual UCI world inspired by African landscapes. Alongside the update, MyWhoosh is introducing the new "Chasing Rainbows" mission series, which is inspired by the upcoming 2025 UCI Road World Championships and offers users the opportunity to ride on virtual replicas of the official race tracks.

The new arcade mode marks MyWhoosh's entry into the gamification of indoor training. The first challenge, called "Zombie Escape", sets riders the task of escaping from virtual zombies. To avoid being caught, participants must maintain a minimum speed. The principle of the game is that each driver has three "lives" before they are eliminated from the game. Points are awarded based on the total distance travelled, with certain scores unlocking access to higher levels of difficulty.

Junior accounts and parental control

With the 5.3 update, MyWhoosh is also introducing special junior accounts for young cyclists aged 6 to 18. These accounts have integrated parental control functions to ensure safe use. Parental consent is required to create a Junior account and access to social features such as chat, in-app purchases, app integration, video-on-demand and live coaching is restricted. With this expansion, MyWhoosh says it wants to build a youth cycling community and encourage the next generation of riders.

The platform also introduces a new UCI world inspired by African landscapes and featuring fictional routes. This new virtual environment will be available at certain events and will serve as the official route for the 2025 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships. MyWhoosh is thus emphasising its partnership with the UCI and offering users the opportunity to ride on routes that are also used in official competitions.

Aero tuck button and technical improvements

Another new feature in update 5.3 is the Aero Tuck button, which adds a realistic and performance-enhancing component to indoor training. By activating this function, the driver's avatar assumes an aerodynamic position on descents, which reduces air resistance and provides an aerodynamic advantage. This function is designed to make the virtual driving experience more realistic and introduce strategic elements into training.

In addition to the new features, MyWhoosh has also implemented technical improvements. The platform now supports Direct Connect for all compatible training devices, which enables a faster and more stable connection. In addition, the on-demand function for world downloads has been introduced, which allows users to save only the maps they need in order to save storage space and shorten the app's loading times.

Chasing Rainbows: Missions for the UCI World Championship

As an official partner of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, MyWhoosh has launched the special "Chasing Rainbows" mission series. This three-part event is inspired by the upcoming UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda, and features realistic simulations of the official race courses. The missions also mark the debut of MyWhoosh's dynamic route creation feature and give users an exclusive taste of the 2025 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships route.

  • First stage: "Against the Time Clock", 15 to 21 September, replica of the official UCI individual time trial course
  • Second stage: "Chasing Rainbows", 22 to 28 September, simulates the circuit of the road race in Kigali, which will be ridden in all elite categories of the 2025 UCI World Championships
  • Third stage: "Into the Future", 29 September to 5 October, presents the official route for the 2025 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships for the first time

For riders who are unable to complete all stages within the designated timeframe, MyWhoosh is offering a catch-up week from 6 to 12 October, during which all three stages will be available to complete the missions and earn rewards. After completing all three stages, participants will receive various in-game items as rewards, including a UCI Kigali commemorative jersey, a special "Chasing Rainbows" badge, a virtual Specialized Tarmac SL8 road bike and virtual Naked Optics sunglasses.
