Trail'NGravel WurmbergChallenger: Gravel biking and trail running in the Harz Mountains

On 12 September 2026, the Trail'NGravel WurmbergChallenger will take place for the first time on the Wurmberg in the Harz Mountains. TIME for SPORTS GmbH, based in Leipzig, is organising the event, which combines gravel biking and trail running in a single competition. The event’s motto is “Offroad. Unfiltered.” and is aimed at athletes seeking challenges in the great outdoors.

Trail'NGravel route

Participants complete four segments in the following order: gravel biking, trail running, gravel biking and trail running. The total distance is 34 kilometres with 1,100 metres of elevation gain. The transition between disciplines requires different skills and demands not only endurance but also technique and tactical ability. Participants can compete individually, as a duo or in a relay. The various classification categories allow for different approaches to the competition. According to the organiser, the duo and team classifications in particular are attracting a great deal of interest and underline the spirit of camaraderie at the event.

Trail'NGravel at Wurmberg

At 971 metres, the Wurmberg is Lower Saxony’s highest mountain and provides the backdrop for the event. The Hexenritt-Alm serves as the event centre and houses the transition area, the finish line, refreshment stations and partner stands. Other programme items are also coordinated from there.

Partners and Organisation

Shimano is supporting the premiere as a partner. The components manufacturer is one of the world’s leading companies in the cycling industry. Presenter Alexander Feldhaus will be hosting the programme. He is well known as the voice of numerous triathlon, running and cycling events in Germany.

The switch between gravel biking and trail running creates a very special dynamic and is what makes the competition so appealing.”
