The event is a social gathering that focuses on the common goal: twelve hours of altitude metres and collecting donations for people with neurological and autoimmune diseases. Recumbent bikes, racing bikes, MTBs or e-bikes - any bike is permitted and anyone can take part. "Hohler Buckel" is a meeting place for friends and supporters of Besi & Friends. The latter is a successful project that was founded by Andreas Beseler after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He discovered how well the racing bike helped him to keep MS at bay, and his project became a source of encouragement for people with health restrictions.
"Hohler Buckel" runs over twelve hours - when registering, you can either specify a fixed donation amount or a donation for the kilometres/metres of altitude covered. The route leads over the hump and back again at the turning point after around 7.5 kilometres. The road is not closed to public traffic. Sporting ambitions can be realised on this day as well as a purely fun start in the service of a good cause. The event is well organised: Transponders are used to measure time and altitude, and a wide range of (sports) catering is available to fortify the participants. Last year, an impressive 75,000 euros were collected in donations. The record of one participant was 7000 metres in altitude.
Cycling together for a good cause brings people together
TV Miltenberg is organising the fourth edition of the Boxbrunn charity mountain challenge. The aim is to collect as many metres in altitude as possible on the bike for a good cause. The race takes place on the B 47 mountain road between Amorbach and Boxbrunn in the district of Miltenberg.
The Lila Logistik Charity Bike Cup has been combining cycling and fundraising in the Stuttgart region since 2007. The donations collected are used to support social projects for children. In 2024, 60,000 euros were raised for children in need. The core idea of the event is to pedal side by side with active and former professional cyclists.
Since 2002, Team Rynkeby has raised an incredible 94 million euros for seriously ill children. The charity project has offshoots in many European cities, which cycle to Paris as a group once a year. It's already too late for 2025, but the next ride is scheduled for 2026.
