In the 2021/22 cyclocross season, the Swiss racing series "CrossTour" will not take place for the first time in seven years. Following the end of EKZ's long-standing sponsorship, no new sponsor has been found.

"The decision was not an easy one, but ultimately we have no other choice," said CrossTour organiser Christian Rocha. After the end of the collaboration with the main sponsor Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich (EKZ) became apparent at the end of 2020/21 (TOUR reported), the organisers of the CrossTour were unable to find a new main sponsor.

Baden, Hittnau and Meilen still in the calendar

The only ray of hope in the current situation is that the organisers in Baden (12 September), Hittnau (21 November) and Meilen (2 January 2022) are willing to hold their race next autumn/winter even without the CrossTour. It is not yet clear in what size and with what status. The Allianz Gravel Ride & Race will also take place in Bern on 16 October together with a kids' cross.

The last race of the EKZ CrossTour will take place on Saturday, 7 August, at the Urban Cyclocross Zurich.
