German cyclist Janine Meyer had double reason to celebrate in Sölden. After dominating the race last year, she was able to take the lead again this year and keep up with the best men. She crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 7:26:26, beating her own time from the previous year and setting a new record for the fastest woman. Belgian Ils Van der Moeren finished second, 27 minutes and 2 seconds behind the winner. Roberta Bussone (ITA) finished third.
In the men's race, the decision was once again made on the climb to the Timmelsjoch. The Frenchman Loic Ruffaut had already won the Kühtai and rode alone at the front for around four hours with a lead of up to eight minutes. By the Jaufenpass, Jack Burke had already significantly reduced the gap to the Frenchman and was able to make up a whole minute on the descent alone. On the first hairpin bends to the Timmelsjoch, the Canadian Jack Burke overtook the Frenchman Loic Ruffaut. Burke took the lead and rode through Sölden to the finish in an incredible time of 6:49:14.5.
The other podium places in the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon were also fought over from the Timmelsjoch: On the climb to the Timmelsjoch, a group of three formed for places two to four with Hans-Jörg Leopold (AUT), Stefano Cecchini (ITA) and Alban Lakata (AUT). The decision ended with a sprint before the finish line, in which the Austrian Hans-Jörg Leopold took second place with a time of 6:59:36.8, Stefano Cecchini (ITA) was third and the best Tyrolean Alban Lakata was fourth.
