The popular Nova Eroica series is expanding in 2025 with two new events. The Nova Eroica Ivrea in Piedmont, Italy, will take place for the first time on 13 and 14 September, followed by the Nova Eroica Istria - Truffle Tour in Croatia on 20 and 21 September. Both events promise a mixture of challenging gravel cycling, cultural experiences and culinary delights. Registration for the new races is now open. The concept combines sporting challenges on white gravel roads with a strong sense of community. Each event is intended to be more than just a bike race - it is a holistic experience that combines sport, culture and regional specialities. The organisers describe it as a "homage to the bicycle as a symbol of freedom, as a connection between people and as a key to special places".
The Nova Eroica Ivrea celebrates its premiere on 13 and 14 September 2025. The start and finish point is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Piazza Castello in Ivrea. Participants can choose between three route lengths: 45, 75 or 130 kilometres. The routes lead over white gravel roads through vineyards, hilly landscapes and historic villages in the moraine landscape of Piedmont. A special feature of the event is the involvement of the local communities along the route. Each village will contribute to the overall experience with regional cuisine, cultural offerings and local hospitality. The organisers emphasise: "It is much more than just a cycle race: It's a celebration that combines cycling with culture, enjoyment and a strong sense of togetherness."
One week after Ivrea, on 20 and 21 September 2025, Nova Eroica will make its first stop in Croatia. The "Truffle Tour" starts in Cittanova (Novigrad) and leads along the historic Parenzana railway line into the green hinterland of Istria. Along the way, participants will pass picturesque places such as Grisignana (Grožnjan), known as a creative artists' town, and the medieval town of Montona (Motovun). Here, too, there are three distances to choose from: 60, 100 or 150 kilometres. There are categorised sections for ambitious riders. In addition to the scenic and cultural diversity, the event emphasises regional cuisine. Participants will get to know Istrian specialities such as truffles, Malvasia wine and Teran along the way.
With the new events in Ivrea and Istria, the 2025 Nova Eroica series comprises a total of five stages in Italy and Croatia.
Each stage has its own character - from high mountains and Mediterranean coasts to rolling hills and wine regions. According to the organisers, what unites all the events is "the joy of cycling, the connection with nature, the white roads and the sense of community that makes Nova Eroica so unique". The Nova Eroica series thus appeals to both ambitious cyclists and leisure cyclists who value cultural and culinary experiences in addition to the sporting challenge. With the expansion to Ivrea and Istria, the event series is opening up two new, scenic regions for gravel sports.
