The distance of the "Classic" long-distance race is 216 kilometres and, according to the organisers, participants have to conquer 4600 metres in altitude. The finale is more difficult than any other known cycling marathon: the panoramic road to the finish at the Alpenhaus has an average gradient of 12.7 per cent over 7.6 kilometres, with a peak gradient of 22 per cent. Before that, the cyclists have to climb several challenging ascents, including Pass Thurn, Gerlospass and Kerschbaumer Sattel.
For all participants who find the steep slopes of the Kitzbüheler Horn particularly hard on the legs, there is a second finish in the centre of Kitzbühel. The shorter "Kitz" route covers 209 kilometres and has around 1000 metres less altitude without the final climb. The entry fee is 149 euros.
The organisers are offering a training camp with Andy Schleck from 18 to 21 June 2025 (Wednesday to Saturday) for those who want to prepare for the challenge in a particularly professional manner. The winner of the 2010 Tour de France from Luxembourg will help participants with tips and Tour support. The marathon route will be covered in two one-day sections. However, the two and a half days of preparation must be worth 590 euros per person without accommodation.
