The traditional Italian event Nove Colli is changing its two routes. Pre-registration for the Granfondo runs from 19 October to 8 November 2022.

The Granfondo Nove Colli has been running through the hills of Emilia-Romagna since 1971 and is one of the most popular cycling races in Italy. In 2023, there will be a slightly different route to "further improve the safety of the race while maintaining the charm and effort of the race".

New route of the Granfondo Nove Colli

The long distance offers a total of 194 kilometres with a difference in altitude of 3880 metres. A large part of the route remains unchanged, but there will be some changes at the end of the race: After riding the legendary "Barbotto", there will be a new descent to the "Ville di Montetiffi", which will then continue to the Montetiffi ramp before reaching Perticara.

The biggest change comes on the last hill: the Gorolo is replaced by the climb from Sogliano and the subsequent descent of the Cioca. Four strenuous kilometres with gradients of 10 per cent and then down to the Cioca. 18 hairpin bends promise a new race dynamic at the Nove Colli. The finish in Cesenatico will also be changed to avoid the forced closure of the motorway tollbooth. There will also be changes for all participants on the short course: From Barbotto there is a new descent to Ville di Montetiffi and at the end of this descent there is now the junction between Granfondo and Mediofondo.

Anyone who wants to start at the Nove Colli can pre-register from Wednesday, 19 October 2022, 10 a.m. to Tuesday, 8 November 2022, 10 a.m. On Wednesday, 9 November 2022, 10 a.m., the so-called click day will take place, on which you can register. The starting places are then usually allocated within a short time. Registration costs 110 euros.
