The organisers of the Mallorca 312 OK Mobility announced in Artà that Rigoberto Urán will wear race number 312 for the 2027 edition. The Colombian thus joins the ranks of cycling legends who, year after year, ride across the Balearic island alongside thousands of amateur cyclists.
Career and Achievements
Rigoberto Urán won the silver medal in the road race at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In the 2017 Tour de France, he finished second in the general classification. At the Giro d’Italia, he finished second on the podium twice in a row in 2013 and 2014. The Colombian has claimed stage victories at both the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia and has been one of the world’s strongest riders for more than a decade.
Tradition Mallorca 312
To date, race number 312 has been awarded exclusively to former professionals who have made their mark on the sport of cycling. Alberto Contador, Miguel Induráin, Annemiek van Vleuten, Pedro Horrillo, Joseba Beloki, Maurizio Fondriest, Samuel Sánchez, Óscar Pereiro, Marga Fullana, Sean Kelly and Toni Tauler have all worn this number in the past. The rider wearing race number 312 symbolically leads the peloton and embodies the link between professional cycling and grassroots cycling.
Mallorca Route 312
On 24 April 2027, up to 8,500 cyclists will set off from Playa de Muro on three different routes. The longest route is 312 kilometres, the medium-length route is 225 kilometres and the shortest route is 167 kilometres. What makes this event special is that the roads are completely closed to traffic for the race. Furthermore, participants can switch to the shorter route if, at the junctions, they feel like covering fewer kilometres. Registration always opens in October and fills up quickly.
