ASD Fausto Coppi on the road is organising the second edition of the gravel event La Fausto de Tierra on Saturday 27 June 2026. The event takes place the day before the international Granfondo La Fausto Coppi Generali and complements the weekend's supporting programme in the Italian city of Cuneo. The event has no timekeeping and no individual classification.
The route measures 67 kilometres and climbs 730 metres in altitude. The route combines gravel paths with tarmac side roads and leads through the Gesso and Stura river parks. The start is at 8.30 a.m. from Piazza Galimberti in Cuneo. Participants ride via Ponte Vassallo through the Stura River Park to Santa Croce di Cervasca, San Michele di Cervasca, Vignolo and Roccasparvera. The route continues via Borgo San Dalmazzo and Fontanelle to Boves. From there, the route leads via San Giovenale and Peveragno back to Piazza Galimberti. In Boves, there is a refreshment stop with mechanical support at the Madonna dei Boschi sanctuary.
The entry fee is 25 euros. Those who register for both gravel events pay 40 euros. The second event, La Fluviale, will take place on 26 September 2026 as part of the Cuneo Bike Festival. The number of participants is limited to 300 riders. Although participants navigate independently via a GPX track, a bike touring licence or racing licence with a medical certificate is required. A day licence from the ACSI sports promotion association can be purchased for 10 euros. Registration is via the website faustocoppi.net.
Each participant will receive a GPX file to download from the website. The event is designed as a self-guided tour. Signposts will show the way at important junctions. The organisers will provide medical assistance and a mechanical service point. The start pack includes products from sponsors. There are refreshment stations along the route and a stamp card for checkpoints. All types of bikes are permitted, including e-bikes. Participants must comply with the road traffic regulations.
The cycling marathon on the road takes place the day after the gravel ride. The centrepiece of the event is the Granfondo over 172 km with over 4,300 metres in altitude. The route leads through the Valle Varaita and Valle Maira, over the legendary Colle di Sampeyre and the Colle Fauniera (2,481 m), before the final ascent to the Madonna del Colletto. The Mediofondo is slightly shorter, covering 111 km and over 2,550 metres in altitude. It leads through Valle Grana to Colle Fauniera and back via Madonna del Colletto. For those who want to enjoy cycling and the impressive landscape of the Cottian Alps without the pressure of competition, there is the Fauniera Classic - a non-competitive tour that also leads to the top of the Colle Fauniera pass and allows you to experience the best of the region at a relaxed pace.
