On 17 May 2026, the Lemming Turmbergrennen goes into Karlsruhe-Durlach into its 23rd edition. The event, which is one of the shortest and steepest cycling races in Germany, is explicitly aimed at a wide range of participants. Ambitious cyclists as well as amateur athletes, beginners and families are welcome to take part in this special mountain sprint. The closed-off course runs over 1.8 km and 120 metres in altitude with a maximum gradient of 13% up Karlsruhe's local mountain. Sprinting until you cramp and your lungs burn - even a few metres in altitude are enough. The winning time in the trailer race was around six minutes - without the ballast, the fastest time was around four minutes.
The Turmberg race offers various participation categories in order to provide as many athletes as possible with a suitable format. You can compete on a racing bike, ride in single-speed mode or even take part with a bike trailer. Alternatively, there is also a mountain run to choose from. The short but demanding climb challenges the athletes and rewards them with an authentic race feeling.

Online registration for the 23rd Lemming Turmbergrennen has been possible on the website www.turmbergrennen.de since 1 February 2026. Due to the limited number of participants totalling 500 starting places - 350 for cyclists and 150 for runners - early registration is recommended. The entry fee of 15 euros for cyclists includes a participant gift as a memento of the event. The discounted combined start (20 euros) is particularly attractive for all those who would like to take part both by bike and on foot. This option is open to all interested parties and makes it possible to double the personal challenge on the Turmberg and compare both disciplines.
