The Italian high valley of Livigno is hosting the Granfondo Livigno Alé on 27 June 2026. The event takes amateur cyclists through the high Alps between Engadin and Bormio. The final climb ends on the Mottolino, where Tadej Pogačar made history in the queen stage of the Giro d'Italia 2024.
The Mediofondo covers 106 kilometres and 2,050 metres in altitude. The route starts in Livigno and leads over the Passo della Forcola and the Bernina Pass into the Engadin to Zernez. After the Ofen Pass, the route leads through the Munt La Schera tunnel back to Livigno and up to the Mottolino. The Granfondo stretches over 166 kilometres and 4,100 metres in altitude. Here, the Passo Umbrail, the Passo del Foscagno and the Passo dell'Eira are added.
Livigno has served as a training camp for professionals and top teams for decades. The town at an altitude of 1,816 metres regularly works with major tours and has hosted several Giro stages. The routes lead through the Alpine arc with views of the Bernina and Ortler groups. After the race, the car-free pedestrian zone offers regional specialities such as pizzoccheri and bresaola. The Aquagranda is one of the largest and highest sports and wellness centres in Europe.
As always in Italy, special conditions of participation apply. Anyone who has a valid racing licence for 2026 can start together with a medical certificate of fitness for cycling (no other disciplines). A template for the document can be obtained from the Website can be downloaded.
If you do not have a current racing licence, you must purchase a day ticket from the Italian Cycling Federation FCI. The day licence costs 20 euros and provides liability insurance during the event. A doctor's certificate of fitness for cycling is also required for the issue of the day ticket.
