The Villach Alpine Road in the Dobratsch Nature Park marks the start of Everesting in Europe. The event is open to different levels of ability with various distances. In addition to the full 8848 metres in altitude, the programme includes half, quarter and eighth Everesting. Team competitions round off the programme. Ambitious amateur riders can register as well as performance-orientated athletes.
According to a press release, the organisers are closing the route in the Dobratsch Nature Park to traffic. The constant gradient and consistent conditions create a controlled setting for the challenge, the press release promises. The infrastructure will be set up especially for the event. Registration is possible at events.everesting.com. Registration is possible as an individual starter or as a team of two, four or eight riders. However, the information on the website is still very sparse - there are hardly any details about the route or the exact programme and schedule. However, registration is already open. The individual starting place for the Everesting costs 250 euros, the team starting place for a team of four 800 euros and the team of eight 1280 euros.
As in the previous year, there will once again be an Everesting World Championship in Sicily. The event has been announced for 26 September. The Everesting World Championship will once again take place on Mount Etna in 2026 - with new formats and optimised conditions. The organisers are offering various distances: In addition to the classic Full Everesting, there are Half (02), Quarter (04) and Eighth (08) Everesting to choose from. Participants can compete solo or in teams of 2, 4 or 8 people. The road will be closed for the event for the first time in 2026. In addition, the time limit for the Full Everesting has been extended to 19 hours. The Everesting Festival will be held alongside the competition, with music, culinary offerings and an exhibitor area.
