The design and development of the new Wahoo Elemnt Roam focusses on navigation. It is designed to be more powerful and more intuitive than the previous Wahoo bike computers.
The new Roam features dual-band GPS, which enables improved and more accurate navigation, especially when travelling in areas where GPS reception may be limited - such as forests or urban areas.
The Wahoo Elemnt Roam has a high-contrast 64-colour screen that makes it easy to navigate through the various training screen pages. At the same time, the readability of detailed map data and colour-coded charts, graphs and data fields has been optimised.
The updated Summit Segments Climb feature makes it easy for cyclists to check the progress of a climb. This already popular feature now automatically recognises climbs in a pre-loaded route, displays all climbs already completed and allows the rider to view more detailed information about the current or upcoming climbs on their ride.
A comparable function at the competitor Garmin is called Climb Pro.
Upgrading the storage capacity of the Wahoo Elemnt Roam to 32 GB makes it possible to manage and store a larger number of regional map packages and saved routes. Perhaps the days of having to remember to adjust the downloaded maps according to the upcoming tours are over.
The new Elemnt Roam fits seamlessly into Wahoo's connected ecosystem of indoor and outdoor training solutions. Training sessions on the Roam can be synchronised with the Wahoo X subscription. This gives users access to structured outdoor training sessions and the complete indoor and outdoor training history in the Wahoo Systm app.
Already familiar and still on board: Wahoo's Smart Navigation: If you stray from the planned track - intentionally or unintentionally - you are guided back again. Our sister magazine BIKE has reported extensively on Smart Navigation. Read here.
The battery life of 17 hours makes it easy for cyclists to stay on course for longer. Sometimes one battery charge is even enough for an entire week. Ultracycling athletes, such as Christoph Strasser (Winner of the Transcontinental Race 2022) or Sebastian Breuer (Winner Badlands 2022), but should have a charging cable with them.
With the multisport handover function, relevant data is automatically exchanged between the Elemnt Roam and Elemnt Rival GPS watch.
Wahoo's Elemnt Roam can also Kickr Smart Trainer and the Kickr Bike and can be paired with all other connected Wahoo devices. The manufacturer thus promises great flexibility when it comes to training - whether indoors or outdoors.
If you use the Supersapiens glucose sensor system, you can keep a constant eye on your glucose data while driving, without the need for a phone. How? If Supersapiens is paired with the Wahoo Elemnt Roam, the corresponding data fields can be displayed.
