Featuring a suspended fork: Van Rysel’s new endurance gravel bike for long rides

In addition to the RCR-G Race Gravel Bike Van Rysel is also launching an endurance model: the EDR-G is intended to be the ideal gravel bike, equally suited to day rides and multi-day bikepacking trips. Van Rysel positions the bike in the endurance category, between entry-level gravel and ultra-distance use.

Carbon frame with tool box

The carbon frame features a customised lay-up which, according to the manufacturer, is designed to strike a balance between ride comfort and responsiveness. The tyre clearance accommodates tyres up to 50 mm wide. Riders can switch between fast mixed-surface rides with narrower tyres and fully loaded adventures with wider tyres.

The integrated toolbox is taken from the Van Rysel EDR road bike and is housed within the frame. The compartment remains accessible even when fully loaded with bags. The repair kit supplied includes a compact inner tube, a multi-tool, two tyre levers and a mini-pump that inflates up to 4 bar. Its central positioning within the frame is designed to improve weight distribution.

The frame and fork offer more than 15 mounting points. Riders can configure bottle cages, luggage and accessories as required. The design is aimed at expedition use.

Deda Gera handlebars and VR32 wheelsets

The standard Deda Gera handlebars have a 24-degree rake. The geometry is designed to offer more hand positions than classic road bike handlebars and to reduce numbness on long rides. The rake promises control on technical descents and rough terrain.

Selected models are fitted with the VR32 carbon gravel wheelset from Van Rysel. This wheelset, developed specifically for the EDR-G, weighs 1,600 g and is designed to make the bike lighter and more responsive.

If you need better off-road capabilities, you can opt for a model with a RockShox Rudy XPLR suspension fork. The fork offers 40 mm of travel and promises greater control on rough trails.

Test programme covering 25,000 kilometres

Van Rysel developed the EDR-G over a period of two years with 30 test riders. The group covered more than 25,000 km and encompassed a range of riding styles. The feedback ranged from short-distance riders to ultra-distance athletes who cover several hundred kilometres at a time.

Ultra-distance cyclist Juliette Coquert tested the bike on a fully self-supported expedition across Europe. The route covered over 10,000 km. Her feedback was incorporated into the final tuning of the bike.

Van Rysel sums up the philosophy behind the EDR-G as ‘smoother is faster’. Rather than pure speed, the focus is on reducing fatigue caused by vibrations. The bike is designed to keep riders fresh for longer and maintain efficiency over long distances on varying terrain.

The EDR-G works on tarmac, forest tracks, cobblestones, sand and gravel. It is designed to actively make the most of the terrain rather than simply putting up with it.

Availability and model variants

The product will be launched on 24 August 2026. Van Rysel intends to announce details of availability in individual regions in a separate press release ahead of the launch.

Van Rysel offers the EDR-G in three trim levels. The EDR-G GRX is the entry-level model, featuring a Shimano GRX 610 12-speed groupset (40-10/51), DT Swiss G1800 wheels and Schwalbe G-One R Performance tyres in 45 mm. The complete bike weighs 8.75 kg in size M. The model is available in sizes XS to XL and costs 2,199 euros >> available here.

The two higher-spec models feature SRAM Force XPLR AXS (40-10/46), the VR32 Gravel Carbon wheelset and Schwalbe G-One R Pro tyres in 45 mm. Van Rysel was founded in Flanders in 2019 and is situated just a few kilometres from the cobbled sections of Paris–Roubaix and the climbs of the Tour of Flanders. Since 2024, the brand has been a technical partner of the Decathlon CMA CGM WorldTour team, supplying bikes such as the RCR-R, RCR-F and RCR-X.
