The first electric road bike from Rose impresses with its sleek design and powerful motor. In our test, we show what this versatile Reveal Plus 105 e-road bike has to offer and why it impresses both on the road and on climbs.

Topics in this article

The Reveal Plus is the first electrified road bike in the Bocholt-based company's range. The inexpensive Rose can only be recognised as an e-bike on closer inspection and is the spitting image of the eponymous marathon bike. The reason for this is the compact motor, which sits in the rear wheel hub to save space and is powered by a comparatively small battery. During our test rides in the foothills of the Alps, the Mahle X20 scored with its power, especially at low pedalling power, the drive pushes remarkably in turbo mode and makes climbs easier.

Compact motor on the Rose Reveal Plus 105

There are a total of three riding modes, which are set using the control unit on the top tube. A remote control for the round handlebars is available as an option. The visual proximity to the Reveal means that the comfortable character of the motorised clone comes as no surprise. Thanks to the long head tube, the handlebar sits high above the front wheel and puts the rider in a decidedly upright position. Overall, the frame geometry with extended wheelbase and flat steering angle is designed for high directional stability.

Versatility and low weight

Thanks to its low total weight of less than twelve kilograms by e-bike standards, the Reveal Plus can be ridden at a relatively fast pace even without motor assistance. The 32-millimetre tyres are sufficient for the actual purpose of use on asphalt roads, but the official tyre clearance (33 millimetres) is a little tight for longer off-road rides. Currently priced at € 2,999 - the price was reduced by a further € 500 from € 3,499 shortly after our test - the Reveal Plus 105 the cheapest candidate of all the test bikes. Rose offers a further equipment variant, for an additional 1,500 euros you get carbon instead of aluminium wheels and a fully integrated cockpit instead of a handlebar-stem combination. The Rose Reveal Plus Ultegra Di2 is for example available here.
