E-road bike under cover: The Canyon Endurace:ONfly is not recognisable as an e-bike at first glance

The new E-road bike Canyon Endurace:ONfly undercuts the ten-kilo limit in the top version. Anyone who compares e-road bikes with e-mountain bikes quickly realises that the development of electric road bikes has lagged behind. All too often, the motorisation turns a delicate and light road racer into a heavy racer that feels less sporty and, on top of that, carries the ballast of the e-drive above the assistance limit of 25 km/h (plus tolerance).

Classic road bike look of the Canyon Endurace:ONfly

The Endurace:ONfly from Canyon is now designed to look and feel like a classic road bike - thanks to the new HPR40 drive from TQ. The motor and battery are so discreetly integrated into the frame that they are barely noticeable. Nevertheless, the compact drive provides up to 200 watts of assistance when pedalling. Canyon promises an emphatically harmonious and quiet support and speaks of a "natural extension" of its own performance.

The top model weighs less than ten kilograms

The total weight of 9.86 kilograms would be spectacularly low - although this only applies to the top model SUB-10, which is available for 9999 euros. Nevertheless, all four Endurace:ONfly models (from 4499 euros) are equipped with carbon frames. They also all have an integrated motion sensor with anti-theft protection and a GPS tracker that can be viewed via the Canyon app. A front light is also integrated as standard, as well as rear lights placed conspicuously in the seat stays. The tyre clearance allows for tyres up to 35 millimetres wide, even with the optional mudguards. With such wide tyres, the ONFly does not have to turn off before gravel passages.

Range extender for more range

The motor of all Endurace:ONfly models is powered by a fully integrated 290 Wh TQ battery. With the optional 160 Wh range extender in water bottle format, Canyon promises a range of 100 kilometres and 2000 metres in altitude on one battery charge. The drive is controlled via a minimalist control unit in the handlebar end, which also displays the battery status. On the Ultegra and Dura-Ace models, the drivetrain can also be controlled directly. Remarkable: Canyon offers the bike in seven sizes from XXS to XXL. According to the manufacturer, the OnFLy is available immediately via the webshop at canyon.com, in the Canyon app or in selected Canyon stores (except in the USA).
