The Italian component manufacturer Campagnolo is putting the Top Record and Super Record groups has now also relaunched its third-highest gear range. All the technical innovations of the new Chorus are based on the new 12-speed Record and Super Record drivetrains - due to simpler materials, the price-determining weight in particular is noticeably higher: Depending on the brake equipment, the Chorus 12-speed weighs a good 2.3 kilograms or 2.6 kilograms (disc).
With the new 12-speed Chorus, Campa also seems to have the gravel market in mind, as the groupset is available for the first time with a gear ratio of 48/32 at the front and 11-34 at the rear in addition to the usual road bike gradations. Other interesting features: The adjustable reach of the brake levers and, according to the manufacturer, an improved brake lever design, which is intended to optimise the dosage of braking force. Campagnolo also promises better power transmission and smoother shifting thanks to the "3D-Embrace-Technology".
All Chorus components should be compatible with the brand's two other 12-speed groupsets, so that the top groupsets can also be equipped with very small gear ratios, and the rim brake version is available for classic mounting as well as in a direct mount version. Interesting for smaller riders: The carbon crankset is also available in a version with a length of just 165 millimetres.
In contrast to SRAM, which recently launched a Electronic version of the 12-fold force Campagnolo's mid-range Chorus groupset will not be available in an electronic version for the time being. The new groupset is set to go on sale from July 2019.
