With the Poc Aspire could also be worn at the next vernissage. The retro glasses with giant filters look more like a style gadget than functional sports glasses. But of course we are happy to be convinced otherwise.
Poc sends the Aspire in a well-designed plastic case and also includes a goggle bag. Even though the goggles are kept safe there, we find the standard black cases with zip fasteners more practical, as the two half-shells do not hold together very tightly.
Even though the Poc is not one of the largest goggles in the test in terms of dimensions, the Aspire looks huge on the head. This is not least due to its very bulky frame, which contributes to the enormous weight of 44.8 grams. No other goggles in the test are heavier.
The Poc can be adjusted quite well via the extensively adjustable temple tips and therefore sits reasonably securely on the head. However, the weight is a shortcoming that cannot be overlooked. The Aspire feels heavy on the nose after just a few minutes. The nose bridge presses slightly and cannot be adjusted. The frame hidden behind the lens gives the illusion of a better view than is actually the case. The bulky frame of the Poc is particularly obtrusive on the sides and at the top.
Despite the huge panoramic lens, the wind behind the Poc is quite noticeable, especially in the form of turbulence. It seems as if the wind is swirling over the frame of the Aspire behind the goggles on all sides.
The Poc also has little to show in terms of fog protection. They tarnish noticeably faster than many other models in the test. In our lighting test, however, the stylish Swedish goggles come up trumps: the fastest darkening and still the second fastest brightening in the comparison.
The Poc scores particularly well in terms of tinting speed, otherwise more styler than sports goggles
The Aspire's strengths are its extravagant look and ability to adapt to changing light conditions. The wide temples are also easy to adjust. However, at almost 45 grams, the massive Poc is heavy on the nose and tends to bounce around off-road - partly because the nose bridge cannot be adjusted. The bulky frame disturbs the field of vision. A little draughty despite the large lens. No anti-fog.
