Rudy Project, Italian manufacturer of sports eyewear, presents its first new model for 2025, the Astral Sphere. The glasses have been specially developed for cycling, running and other sports and expand the existing Astral product line is a version with spherical lenses, in contrast to the Astral X, whose lenses are cylindrically curved.
According to the manufacturer, the new Astral Sphere combines advanced technology with a comfortable, secure fit. It is designed to meet the requirements of demanding athletes. Some road cyclists from the Teams Bahrain Victorious are already using the Rudy Project goggles in the first races of the season.
The main feature of the Rudy Project Astral Sphere is the spherical design of the lenses. Thanks to the larger lens surface, the goggles offer an extended peripheral field of vision. As there are no flat points where light is reflected, glare is reduced.
The increased air volume between the face and lenses ensures improved ventilation and is designed to prevent fogging. Rudy Project also promises minimal optical distortion for more precise vision.

The new Astral Sphere from Rudy Project is available with two different lens types. On the one hand, the self-tinting ImpactX lenses can be used. According to the manufacturer, these shatterproof lenses adapt perfectly to changing light conditions and are said to offer 100 % UV protection.
Polar 3FX Multilaser lenses are available as an alternative. These are particularly suitable for activities where glare needs to be reduced and colour contrasts improved - such as biking. Both lens types can also be combined with an optical insert from Rudy Project so that athletes can integrate their individual prescription into their glasses.
The Rudy Project Astral Sphere is available in 6 colour variants with 4 different filters:
Depending on the variant, the lenses vary in their light absorption. For example, the ImpactX 2 Black lenses range from almost transparent to 91 per cent light absorption. The ImpactX 2 Red lenses vary between 16 and 84 per cent darkening.
As with its predecessor, the frame of the Astral Sphere is made from Rilsan Clear, a bio-based plastic made from castor oil. According to Rudy Project, this BPA-free material is produced responsibly and is characterised by its lightness, chemical resistance and flexibility. According to the manufacturer, the sunglasses are produced entirely in Italy.
The glasses have been designed for long periods of wear and are intended to offer a high level of comfort. This is ensured by the lightweight frame, ergonomic nose pads and adjustable temples. The manufacturer promises that the Astral Sphere adapts to different face shapes and sits securely and comfortably even during intensive sporting activities. Characteristics that we have already been able to confirm for the Astral X.
The Astral Sphere from Rudy Project is now available in selected shops and in the Rudy Project online shop. The recommended retail price is 179.95 euros for the basic version and 209.95 euros for the version with polarised lenses.
