Italian manufacturer Rudy Project has given its Astral sunglasses an update: the new Astral X comes with larger lenses, which are designed to offer better protection against dirt and light. Despite the larger lenses, the cycling glasses weigh only slightly more.

Since Rudy Project was founded in 1985 in Treviso, Italy, almost four decades ago, the designers have always endeavoured to develop technically advanced and stylish sunglasses. Now Rudy Project presents its latest creation: the Astral X. The frameless sports glasses are lightweight and have a modern design. They are also said to offer excellent UV protection.

The new Astral X sunglasses are an enhanced version of the well-known Astral models from Rudy Projectwhich - like all of the manufacturer's other glasses - is made entirely in Veneto. It retains the typical characteristics such as lightness and robustness, but offers a larger lens: 55 x 147 mm for the Astral compared to 60 x 150 mm for the Astral X. This new model is designed to offer even better protection against wind and light and improve visibility. Through collaboration with professional athletes, Rudy Project claims to have optimised the shape of the lens to ensure the best possible comfort.

The Astral X remains lightweight and still weighs less than 30 g. According to the manufacturer, the new version now weighs 28 g, which is only 2 g more than the previous model. The sunglasses have an adjustable nose bridge and flexible temples, which allow for customisation and are designed to provide optimum support even during intensive activities.

Sunglasses with Category 3 polycarbonate lenses

The Rudy Project Astral X sunglasses are equipped with category 3 polycarbonate lenses, which are designed to provide 91% UV protection. The lenses are designed to offer clear and precise vision in all light conditions thanks to anti-reflective coating, which is intended to reduce glare and increase contrast. The Astral X is available in five different colour combinations, with mirrored lenses and clear or matt temples.

The temples are made from Rilsan, a polymer made from castor oil. This means they are not made from petroleum-based material - a step towards more sustainable production.
