ASSOS presents a new interpretation of cycling layering with the EQUIPE RS Shell Jersey S11. Developed in collaboration with the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, the garment combines the aerodynamic properties of a racing jersey with the weather protection of a waistcoat. The two-layer construction was specially designed for autumn conditions and combines breathability with wind and water protection.

The boundaries between a classic racing jersey and a weatherproof waistcoat are becoming increasingly blurred. With the new EQUIPE RS Shell Jersey S11, Swiss cycling clothing specialist ASSOS presents a garment that combines both worlds. Developed in close collaboration with the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, the product is designed to retain the aerodynamic silhouette of a racing jersey while offering the wind and water protection of an all-weather waistcoat. The result is a two-layer softshell specially designed for autumn conditions, when temperatures and weather conditions change frequently. According to ASSOS, the Shell Jersey S11 is particularly suitable for fast, dry and breathable rides in changeable autumn conditions. The development is based on ASSOS aeroScience, an approach that aims to combine thermoregulation, weather protection and race aerodynamics without compromise. The result is a low-volume garment that can be easily stowed in a jersey or jacket pocket.

Materials and construction

ASSOS favours two main components when selecting materials. The core is formed by DIAMOND Ultra, a proprietary two-layer membrane which, according to the manufacturer, is ultra-elastic, highly breathable and weatherproof. It was developed to form a second skin and ensure a pressure-free fit. The 575CX material is used for the upper arm area - an insulating, breathable knitted fabric that surrounds the upper arms with thermoregulating support and is designed to provide muscle-enclosing compression. The construction follows the so-called AEPD 11 racingFit, an aerodynamic silhouette that has been refined with feedback from the WorldTour and is designed for 360-degree compression and stability. According to ASSOS, an elasticated mesh fabric on the back improves the fit, ventilation and visibility of the race number - a detail that underlines the racing orientation of the product. The sleeves, hem and zip are raw cut and bonded, which should increase aerodynamic efficiency and ensure clean lines.

Technical details and area of application

A special feature of the EQUIPE RS Shell Jersey S11 is the double-slider zip. This construction with two sliders allows access to the jersey pockets while riding and also offers customisable ventilation. The lightweight, low-volume construction can be easily stowed in a jersey or jacket pocket, making the Shell Jersey a versatile companion for changeable conditions. The product was developed in close collaboration with the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, a pro team that has been active in professional cycling since 2023. This cooperation underlines ASSOS' commitment to developing clothing that meets the requirements of professional sport. The EQUIPE RS Shell Jersey S11 is thus positioned in a segment between a classic racing jersey and a weather protection jacket - an area that could be of particular interest to ambitious cyclists who do not want to miss out on training and racing even in changeable autumn conditions.

Positioning in the ASSOS range

The EQUIPE RS Shell Jersey S11 complements the existing EQUIPE RS line from ASSOS, which is characterised by its racing orientation. At ASSOS, the RS designation traditionally stands for the race-orientated products in the range. With the Shell Jersey S11, the manufacturer is expanding its range of transitional clothing and addressing a gap between the classic racing jersey models and fully-fledged weather protection jackets. The development follows the trend towards specialised garments for specific weather conditions and purposes. While classic waistcoats are often optimised for either wind protection or packability, the Shell Jersey S11 attempts to combine both properties while retaining the aerodynamic advantages of a close-fitting jersey. This combination makes the product particularly interesting for autumn conditions, when temperature fluctuations and changing weather conditions are common during a ride. The Shell Jersey S11 is available from the official ASSOS website and complements the Swiss manufacturer's extensive range of technical cycling clothing.
