The features attributed to the Men's Alpha Merino Air Jacket sound ideal for winter rides: water-repellent, lined, lightweight. How does the jacket fare in the TOUR test?

The jacket had to prove itself on a few TOUR test laps in December and January. The low weight of 200 grams, the good fit in the racing bike position and the fluffy merino lining at the front and in the collar, which slightly slows down sweat transport, were all positive features.

The back pockets are spacious, easily accessible and fit snugly to the body even when full; the collar and form-fitting cuffs protect against draughts; rain runs off well. The jacket is not completely windproof, so it does not provide sufficient protection against the real cold. It is therefore best suited to mild and predominantly dry winter days with temperatures above five degrees - and of course for the transitional period.
