A helmet for just 22 euros sounds like a tempting offer. But if the Crivit road bike and gravel helmet lives up to its promise, it offers exceptional value for money. Lightweight, well ventilated and with a clean inmould construction, it could become a real insider tip for sporty riders.

The first conclusion

At first glance, the helmet looks like a model for sporty use on road and gravel bikes. The workmanship is clean, the 20 ventilation openings promise good air circulation and the height-adjustable headband helps with the adjustment. The padding is neatly taped in and the weight of 250 grams sounds tempting. Although the Crivit is not quite as slim as the well-known top models from major brands, it fits surprisingly well when you try it on for the first time and immediately gives you a secure, comfortable feeling.

Crivit road bike and gravel helmet from Lidl - 21.99 euros

This is what the manufacturer writes: The Crivit road bike and gravel helmet combines low weight, stable inmould construction and good ventilation for sporty tours. The robust outer shell and EPS inner layer provide reliable cushioning, while the removable inner padding ensures comfort and easy care. The one-hand size adjustment system with rotary switch enables precise adjustment, and the padded chin strap increases wearing comfort. With 20 ventilation openings, the helmet remains pleasantly cool even during intensive rides. Available in two sizes, it covers head circumferences from 52 to 61 cm and is therefore suitable for road and gravel cyclists looking for a lightweight, functional and affordable model.

Test judgement and classification by the editors

Our test judgement is surprisingly positive: The Lidl helmet impresses with its clean workmanship, without visible moulded seams or unclean transitions. Several colleagues tried it on and praised its pleasing all-round fit. In size M/L, the helmet, which is only available in black, weighs 275 grams, which is not noticeable thanks to the well-placed padding. If you want to save weight, you can remove the somewhat stiff chin pad. The ventilation is strong, the size adjustment dial works precisely and the large rear cut-out in the height-adjustable headband makes the helmet suitable for braids. Visually, its rear section looks a little bulky, but in view of the extremely low price and the convincing quality, the Crivit helmet is a clear purchase tip for road and gravel cyclists.
