Sweet Protection’s aim is to offer a fit that has not previously been comfortable for every rider. According to the manufacturer, the Round Fit is not an existing model with modified padding, but a completely new design. Its aerodynamics, ventilation and safety features are said to be on a par with the original Falconer Aero.
The Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips Round Fit is designed for use on road bikes and fast gravel routes. The magnetic Aerocover plays a key role here. It can be attached or removed depending on the weather, route and intended use.
With the covers fitted, the focus is on achieving the most aerodynamic profile possible. Without the Aerocover, the ventilation system can channel more air through the helmet. This is expected to make a noticeable difference, particularly in high temperatures, on long climbs or during intense training sessions. The design therefore aims to strike a balance between speed and everyday practicality.
The helmet is used by, amongst others, the Uno-X Mobility Pro Cycling Team and the PAS Racing Team. An integrated goggle mount and the special design for Sweet Protection goggles are intended to make it easier to combine the helmet with other equipment. The magnetic Fidlock fastening allows the strap to be opened and closed quickly.
Sweet Protection uses its 2Vi technology platform to provide protection. It combines several elements that perform different functions in the event of an impact. These include an outer shell with variable elasticity, a multi-part impact structure with four protective shields, and an inner foam with varying densities.
The system is complemented by Mips® Air Node Pro. The technology is designed to reduce rotational forces in the event of a fall. Both the Falconer Aero and the Falconer have been awarded a five-star rating by the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab. The new Round Fit features the same protective architecture but is tailored to a different head shape.
An enlarged opening at the back is also designed to provide more space for those who wear their hair in a ponytail. The integrated 360-degree adjustment system allows the circumference and height to be adjusted.
With the Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips Round Fit, the Falconer range now comprises three models: the Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips, the Falconer 2Vi Mips and the new Round Fit version. The key factor for potential buyers is likely to be whether the modified inner shape actually fits their own head shape better.
