Tests on the tarmac and in crash tests reveal which helmets offer the greatest safety margins. Seven manufacturers, from Abus to Uvex, each entered one budget model and one top-of-the-range model into the test, with prices ranging from 100 to 300 euros. One thing is clear from the outset: all the helmets are far better than the standard requires – yet some offer a slight safety advantage, regardless of price. All-round fit, slightly narrower than the more expensive model, available in only two sizes; comparatively heavy as it lacks anti-rotation protection; the adjustment system works well with the ratchet fastening but is unsuitable for plaits; an earlier test sample performed better in the drop test.
